What do you think is the biggest issue facing women today?
I think equality in the workplace is still an issue that women are dealing with. Equal pay for equal work and equal respect. In the workplace there should be no differences based on gender. If she and he are doing the same job, how are they not getting paid the exact same amount of money?
Is there a particular female figure that inspires you?
There are two women that inspire me every day. I have two daughters that are smart, independent, women who show me the world through their individual points of view. We don’t always agree, but they have taught me so much about female empowerment and equality.
Based on your own experience, what advice would you give to women considering pursuing a career in Sales?
You need to remember that you have a voice and you can and should stand up for yourself. Whether it is your boss or a client, respect yourself enough to only accept being treated with respect.
Can you tell us about some of the female empowerment initiatives you were apart of?
When my daughters were small and very involved in sports, I started a company called Play Like a Girl Sports that supported and encouraged females in non traditional sports. There was a lot of support at that time but also a lot of backlash that I was very surprised by. I think females should be able to play any sport that they want. There should be no limitations based on gender. If you want to play and you are able, then you should!
At Coextro, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
